Nicki Minaj to receive the Video Vanguard award at 2022 VMA's

Announced via both Twitter and Instagram, Nicki Minaj is set to receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at this year's 2022 MTV Video Music Awards Show.

Having had some of the most iconic videos in hip-hop history, it is only right that she takes the stage to receive this award and grace us with a performance.

Nicki Minaj's "Anaconda" video is by far her most iconic. On the first day of its release, the song amassed a record breaking 19.6 million views on Vevo, a video streaming service.

The song brought Nicki Minaj both praise and criticism. When looking from an analytical standpoint, this song is one of the barrier breaking songs for the female rappers that are heard today.

Currently, the song boasts a jaw dropping one billion views on Youtube and has been RIAA certified as double platinum in the US.

The song heavily sampled Sir Mix-A-Lot's 1992 hit "Baby Got Back" and received high praise from Sir Mix-A-Lot himself. He took to Twitter to let the channel know that, "after watching @NICKIMINAJ Anaconda 37times I only have one word to sum up my feelings. DAMNNNNN!!!!!!! #AnacondaVideoOnVevo

After having performed the song for the 2014 Video Music Awards, this has to be a full circle moment.

The show will air live on August 28th from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey at 8pm ET/PT.
