Migos members mourn loss of Atlanta rapper Takeoff

R.I.P. Takeoff.

Shock and sadness took over hip hop as news hit that Atlanta rapper Kirshnik Khari Ball, known to the world as Takeoff, tragically lost his life in a deadly shooting in Houston on November 1st.

The 28 year old Migos rapper was known as a pioneer for the hip hop sound that can be heard today. As such, he was honored with a Celebration of Life at the State Farm Arena in the group's city of Atlanta, Georgia on Friday.

The ceremony featured speeches from his group members Quavo and Offset and included musical performances to honor the beloved rapper.

On Saturday, Quavo posted a heartfelt speech to his Instagram detailing what Takeoff meant to him. In the post he shares that it was Takeoff's idea to venture off in a career in music.

Offset has changed his profile pic on Instagram and Twitter to photos that mourn the loss of his group member. On Instagram, a display name that says "OFFSET" and a profile that features Takeoff smiling. On Twitter, both his profile picture and banner show the group and Offset and Takeoff together, respectively.



Rather than sending flowers or gifts, the family asked fans who wanted to support to instead donate to The Rocket Foundation, an organization that was founded in honor of Takeoff. The organization aims to support programs that offer "proven, community-based solutions to prevent gun violence."

Though no arrests have currently been made, police are continuing their investigation.
